About this Resource

Using the Journals of the Arizona State House of Representatives, Arizona State Senate, Session Laws of the State of Arizona, various directories of the Legislature, the Legislative card file at the Arizona State Archives along with newspaper listings and articles, an attempt was made to identify everyone who was elected or appointed to the Arizona State Legislature in the 100 years since Statehood. Sessions served and, when found in the Journals, Legislative offices held, were added. In the event that the Legislator is deceased and there was a Legislative death resolution, that has been included. If a Legislator was elected to another statewide office or to Congress, that was also noted. For those with more recent service, information and a picture were captured from the Arizona Legislative Information System (ALIS). An attempt is currently being made to add additional information found in obituaries or other biographical material that might give a flavor of the Legislator's life and service. This database remains very much a work in progress and much more information needs to be entered and much more research needs to be done. Please remember that the absence of information about a Legislator does not necessarily mean that none exists.

Every attempt was made to transcribe data accurately but errors are possible. If you have additional information or corrections please contact us.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a retrospective database, if you need information about a member of the current Arizona State Legislature, please visit the Member Roster.
