Whereas, Honorable S. P. Morgan, a member, in 1929, of the House of Representatives from Pinal County, of the Ninth Legislature, passed away on March 21, 1953, at the Hoemake Hospital, in Casa Grande, after an illness extending over a period of several years.
Mr. Morgan, a native of Mississippi and a resident of Arizona since 1913, was an outstanding citizen and contributor to the progress of Pinal County and of Arizona. Directly connected with the advancement of the farming, business and educational interests of his community, he took an active part in the development of water for farming, was actively connected with the promotion of the Coolidge Dam, organized the Casa Grande Valley Bank, and served as a member of the board which planned and built a high school for the town of Casa Grande.
In the Ninth Legislature Mr. Morgan served with earnestness and efficiency as a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Irrigation, Accounting and Business Methods, and Ways and Means, and was the author of a number of important measures....
