Rick Murphy is a Phoenix native and life-long resident of the Metro Phoenix area, living in the NW Valley since 1977. He currently lives in Glendale with his wife, Penny and two children. Mr. Murphy has been a Realtor® since 1992 and is also a small business owner.
Mr. Murphy has been politically active since 1997, although his interest in politics and government began in childhood. He became a Republican Precinct Committeeman after the 1996 elections and has held several Republican Party leadership positions, most recently 1st Vice-Chairman for District 9 and Congressional District 2 Member at Large for the Arizona Republican party.
Mr. Murphy is also active in the community and non-partisan issue advocacy, particularly in the areas of taxpayer protection and chronic illness issues. He is a past Chairman of the Arizona Federation of Taxpayers, which publishes the annual “Friend of the Taxpayer” rating of the Arizona Legislature. He is a founding (and current) member of the local Hemophilia Association’s Camp Committee, which organizes a summer camp for Arizona children with bleeding disorders. He also serves as a volunteer camp counselor each summer and is a past board member. As a member of Christ’s Church of the Valley, he is a volunteer Jr. High Youth Coach and leads a weekly student Bible study.
