The following is from the Legislative death resolution:
Whereas, on December 9, 1953, Sen. Jack L. Schleimer, aged sixty-six years, died at Glendale, California.
Mr. Schleimer served his county, Santa Cruz, as Senator in the Fifth Legislature, and since that time has been engaged in the real estate business in Nogales and Los Angeles, California.
The Senator's name will long be remembered by the citizens of Mexico for the part he played in securing an early recognition of that government by the United States. Senate Joint Memorial No. 1 of the Fifth Legislature, memorializing Congress to recognize the late President Obregon and the Republic of Mexico, was highly persuasive evidence of Arizona's high regard for the new Mexican regime and therefore was a major factor in the recognition.
Members of the Fifth Legislature have often reflected on how Jack Schleimer's committee on Style, Revision and Compilation was able to make a bill say what it meant. The reports of his committee were punctuated with little changes, such as replacing "as" with "so" while in reality each change was big enough to transform a hollow bill into a hard-hitting measure.
Mr. Schleimer served the Legislature in capacities other than as chairman of the committee on Style, Revision and Compilation, being also a member of the following committees: Banking and Insurance, Livestock and Forestry, Counties and County Affairs, and Militia and Public Defense.
