Biographical Information

Sen. Walter Runke resigned after the 8th Legislature, Regular Session 1928 had ended.  The resignation was noted November 19, 1928 when the 5th Special Session was convened.  He was replaced by E. R. Byers as Senator from Coconino County who took the oath of office November 19, 1928 (Journal of the Senate, 8th Legislature, 5th Special Session, 1928, pp. 14-15, includes a report by the Judiciary Committee about how a vacancy can be filled by law if the Governor does not call a special election)
