Biographical Information

Gordon Le Roy Hoopes was born in Miami, Gila Co., Arizona, the son of Roy V. and Maude (Sowell) Hoopes.  He graduated from Safford High School in 1936 and from New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, New Mexico, in 1938.  He attended the University of Arizona from 1939-40.

In 1953 Gordon moved his wife and family to a ranch near Cherry Creek, Colorado but they later returned to Arizona.

In the November 1960 General Election, Gordon L. Hoopes was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives.   He was re-elected two more times.
