Biographical Information

The following is from the Legislative death resolution:

On February 4, 1960, the Honorable Edward Lester Jameson passed away at the age of seventy-five years.

Mr. Jameson resided in the State of Arizona for over a half century and during those years he was dedicated in the service of his community and fellow citizens.

The Honorable Edward L. Jameson was born in Knox County, Nebraska.  In 1910 he moved to Phoenix where he resided until 1928 when he moved to Kingman.  Mr. Jameson was a partner with John Neal for over thirty years in the operation of the Long Mountain Ranch Company.

Mr. Jameson was honored by the citizens of his legislative district on five different occasions when they voted to have him represent their interests in the Arizona Legislature as a member of the House of Representatives.  Edward Lester Jameson served in the Legislature for ten years and during the Eighteenth Legislature, his final term, he was elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.  In this post he served with distinction.

Edward Lester Jameson, in addition to serving his State in a commendable manner, was also very active in community affairs.  At one time he served as President of the Kingman Chamber of Commerce.  In addition to this distinction, he was chosen Master of the Masonic Lodge, and served as a member of the Rotary Club and as advisor to the Rainbow Girls of the Masons.  Moreover, Mr. Jameson was one of the organizers of the statewide planning commission.
