On July 29, 1968, at the age of seventy-three years, the Honorable Lynn Lockhart passed away in the City of Phoenix, Arizona.
Mr. Lockhart was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas, and had been an Arizona resident since 1920. Until coming to Phoenix a few years ago, Mr. Lockhart had been a resident of Springerville, where he operated a cattle ranch near Nutrioso in Apache County.
During his many years in Arizona, Mr. Lockhart was active in many endeavors. At one time he was Vice President of the Lockhart Oil Company in Starr County, Texas. He was Chairman of the State Oil and Gas Conservation Commission until his resignation in 1967. He also served six years as Chairman of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission and was a member of the Arizona Industrial Commission. Mr. Lockhart was an active member of the El Zaribah Shrine Temple and the Elks Lodge, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
The Honorable Lynn Lockhart served with distinction in the Twenty-second, Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Legislatures in the Arizona Senate. He served on several Standing Committees, including Tourist and Industry Development, Suffrage and Elections, Livestock and Public Lands, all of which he was Chairman. Moreover, he was Vice Chairman during the period of 1955 to 1960, of the Fish and Game Committee. Other Standing Committees on which he served are as follows: Banking and Insurance, Highways and Bridges, Livestock and Public Lands, Military and Veterans Affairs and Mines and Mining.
