Biographical Information

The following is from the Legislative death resolution:

The Honorable Ramon G. Michelena passed away on September 24, 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of eighty-two years.

A native son of Arizona, Mr. Michelena was born on February 10, 1896 in Solomon, Arizona.

Mr. Michelena, a successful rancher, also ably served in the Arizona Highway Patrol.  A World War I veteran and member of the American Legion in Nogales, he also served as Justice of the Peace in Graham County.

Mr. Michelena was first elected to the Arizona Senate to serve in the Twenty-fifth Legislative Session and also served in the Twenty-sixth Legislative Session as a member of the Arizona Senate.  He served competently on the Education, Finance and Revenue, Labor and Management, and Suffrage and Elections Committees in the Twenty-fifth Legislative Session.  In the Twenty-sixth Legislative Session he served with distinction on several legislative committees including the Constitutional Amendments and Referendums Committee, of which he was Chairman.
